Job summary

Postgraduate Center for Mental Health seeks a Housing Court Liaison to manage tenancy-related legal processes and coordinate with attorneys and program staff. This role ensures cases are legally sound, well-documented, and compliant with regulatory standards within our residential programs.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in housing/tenancy or legal support, experience with NYC housing court processes, and strong organization. Occasional evening hours may be required for Small Claims matters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred, or an Associates Degree with relevant education and experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in housing, tenancy administration, legal support, or case management.
• Working knowledge of NYC housing court processes, landlord-tenant law, and fair housing requirements.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage documentation with high accuracy.
• Proficiency with case-tracking systems and standard office software.
• Familiarity with OMH-regulated residential programs and related regulatory requirements.
• Experience working with attorneys or in a legal liaison capacity.
• Understanding of the supportive housing model and residents' rights.

Responsibilities

• Review referred cases to verify retention efforts and documentation before initiation.
• Initiate tenancy and housing court cases with attorneys, preparing required documents.
• Serve as liaison between program staff, leadership, and outside counsel; track case status.
• Coordinate court appearances, schedule staff and records, and attend proceedings as needed.
• Maintain audit-ready case files and a tracking system for active and closed matters.
• Monitor compliance with OMH regulations, lease terms, fair housing, and due process.
• Identify alternatives to legal action and route appropriately.
• Prepare periodic reports on case volume, status, and outcomes.
• Collaborate with program directors and clinical staff to strengthen documentation practices.
• Initiate Small Claims, LIHTC Holdover, and Non-Payments evictions as needed.
• Maintain all files per agency and regulatory standards.
• Report crises and emergencies to clinical staff immediately.
• Adhere to PCMH policies and procedures; perform other duties as assigned.
• This position requires occasional evening hours for Small Claims matters.
