Job summary

Catholic Charities Boston is seeking a Deputy Director to oversee center-based childcare programs and family child care systems, ensuring fiscal soundness and strong management. You will work with the Divisional Director to maintain compliant operations and staff performance.

You will lead hiring, supervision and program evaluation across sites, while expanding community partnerships and coordinating services to families in need.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education; Master’s preferred.
• Eight years of experience working with children in a childcare program.
• Four years of experience supervising others.
• Knowledge of EEC guidelines including QRIS, UPK, and CACFP.
• Willingness to work with a diverse population.
• Strong observation, communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
• Ability to work with frequent interruptions.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Internet applications.
• A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for local travel.
• Punctual attendance.
• Ability to work evening or weekend hours as needed.

Responsibilities

• Participate in interviewing, hiring and onboarding for childcare staff.
• Conduct ongoing program evaluation with directors to meet enrollment figures and contract utilization.
• Ensure programs and sites have community connections through local councils, schools and community events.
• Identify staff development needs and arrange training and coaching.
• Support program directors with employee relations as needed.
• Assist in developing performance plans for the child care division.
• Approve requests for time off and process timesheets.
• Coordinate social services to create comprehensive client services.
• Liaise with marketing to promote programs.
• Monitor food program, licensing and state contracts for compliance.
• Conduct monthly supervision with childcare directors and document outcomes.
• Participate in annual performance evaluations.
• Represent Catholic Charities on local/state issues affecting communities served.
• Participate in the annual budget process.
• Work in classrooms and offices with occasional travel to locations.
• Promote a positive, caring climate for employees.
• Attend trainings and Divisional Director meetings; assist with monthly agenda.
• Local travel to meet position expectations.
• Other responsibilities as required.
