The Deputy Constable is an appointed position working under the direction of the appointing Constable. The Deputy Constable assists the Constable and assumes the full responsibility of the Constable in his or her absence. A Deputy Constable possesses the powers and may perform the duties allowed by law for the office of the Constable.
The mission of the Constables is to execute mandated civil and criminal processes for citizens of Maricopa County, ensuring they receive timely, cost-effective, and professional service.
This position requires a High School diploma or GED.
The Deputy Constable must be an AZPOST-certified law enforcement officer (Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training). The selected candidate must pass a law enforcement background check and possess a valid Arizona driver's license in good standing.
Our preferred candidate will have prior police experience and skill in dealing with difficult and/or violent situations.
The Deputy Constable may encounter verbally and physically abusive defendants when serving orders of protection, seizing property, and evicting defendants from their homes and residences. The Deputy Constable may be required to intervene when criminal activity is observed.
