Job summary

Maricopa County is seeking a Deputy Constable to assist the Constable and act in his or her absence. The deputy carries the powers and duties allowed by law for the office of the Constable and serves civil processes for the county.

The position requires a High School diploma or GED and AZPOST certification is expected. Candidates should be prepared for back- ground checks and a focus on safety in potentially violent situations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• AZPOST-certified law enforcement officer preferred.
• Experience handling difficult or violent situations is valued.

Responsibilities

• Serve civil process including subpoenas, summons, and writs.
• Possibly seize property to satisfy court judgments.
• Make civil arrests as ordered by the court.
• Attend Court of the Justice of the Peace as needed.
• Prepare reports and affidavits for the court.
