Job summary

Maricopa County Attorney's Office in Phoenix is seeking a Legal Support Assistant in the Intake Bureau to manage vital legal records, greet visitors, and streamline daily operations in a structured environment.

You will handle communications, logging, and document handling, while maintaining accuracy and efficiency in a fast-paced setting. A high school diploma and one year of clerical/customer service experience are required; overtime is possible.

  • High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and greet incoming visitors.
  • Answer the bureau phone line.
  • Monitor bureau email inbox.
  • Respond to inquiries from internal and external customers in person and by phone.
  • Open, sort, and distribute incoming mail.
  • Log incoming case submittals from law enforcement agencies.
  • Copy, scan, and upload case-related documents into the case management system.
  • Assist with document delivery runs.
  • Retrieve case information from court and law enforcement databases.
  • Perform criminal history checks and data entry with accuracy.
  • Document and maintain monthly work statistics.
  • Maintain Terminal Operator Certification with the Department of Public Safety.

Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. This position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

Working Conditions
  • The Maricopa County Attorney's Office requires a thorough background check of all successful candidates and is authorized to test prospective employees for the presence of illegally accessed drugs. Drug testing is conducted once an offer has been extended and prior to placement
  • Mostly office setting in high volume, fast-paced environment
  • Requires long periods of sitting while completing computer activities
  • Ability to travel to and from various county locations for meetings and training, utilizing personal or county vehicle
  • Ability to lift boxes and pull mail cart weighing 25 - 40 pounds
