Job Description

The Office of the Clerk of Superior Court seeks an individual to serve as Deputy Clerk in North Carolina's legal system. Responsibilities include performing clerical and administrative work, interacting with the public, processing filings, and maintaining case documentation.

Primary Duties
  • Process cash receipts
  • Review and process criminal and civil cases
  • Maintain case files during court sessions
  • Handle cases related to adoptions, foreclosures, and more
  • Provide information to attorneys, DSS, DPS, and Guardians ad Litem
  • Administer estates and explain procedures to families
Qualifications and Skills
  • Knowledge of NC statutes, civil and juvenile proceedings, and relevant systems
  • Skills in math, active listening, communication, data entry, and MS Office
  • Ability to read legal documents, multi-task, work independently, and maintain confidentiality
  • Spanish language skills preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent; minimum 18 years old
  • Preferred: experience in a courthouse or law office
