Job summary

Ancestry seeks a Sr. Director, Deputy CISO to partner with the CISO in driving the enterprise's cyber risk strategy. You will lead security operations, governance, and risk management across engineering, product, privacy, and IT, ensuring resilient defenses and trusted consumer experiences.

You will translate complex security concepts into measurable business risk metrics, guide executive-level reporting, and build scalable teams to support a growing, consumer-focused platform.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive leadership in information security.
• Experience managing multi-disciplinary security functions through subordinate managers/directors.
• Extensive experience driving security strategy within cloud-native environments (AWS/GCP/Azure).
• Incident Command with crisis leadership and enterprise-grade response.
• Cross-functional influence across engineering, product, legal, privacy, and IT.

Responsibilities

• Lead Enterprise Security Operations & Resilience: oversee security operations and incident readiness.
• Serve as primary Incident Commander during high-stakes events, coordinating across Legal, PR, Engineering, and executives.
• Embed enterprise risk frameworks and security-by-design in consumer applications and data architectures.
• Build and scale a multi-tier security organization of directors, managers and engineers.
• Modernize defense capabilities with AI/ML, automation, and cloud-native architectures.
