Job summary

Ethos is seeking a Deputy CISO to partner with the CISO in leading our security organization. You will be a hands-on senior security leader responsible for architecture, engineering, operations, and incident response across cloud platforms, applications, and infrastructure.

You will mentor engineers, manage budgets, and communicate risk to executives and the board. A strong technical background and a track record of defending real systems are essential for this high-impact role.

Qualifications

• 12+ years in security engineering or leadership roles with hands-on work.
• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, IT, or related field.
• Deep experience in cloud security architecture (AWS) including IaC.
• Strong background in application security, secure SDLC, and modern architectures.
• Ability to read and evaluate system architecture and code with credibility with engineers.
• Experience leading incident response and root-cause analysis.
• Proven track record building and leading security teams.
• Strong communication skills to translate technical risk for executives.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute security strategy, roadmaps, and priorities.
• Act as deputy and escalation point for CISO, including with executives and board.
• Lead and mentor security engineers and architects; oversee budgets and resourcing.
• Provide hands-on review of security architectures across cloud, apps, APIs, infra.
• Lead threat modeling and architecture reviews for major systems.
• Drive secure-by-design practices in SDLC and CI/CD pipelines.
• Lead or oversee major security incident response and remediation.
