Job summary

The Deputy Chief of Special Projects at the Maryland Department of General Services serves as the primary backup to the Chief of Maintenance Engineering and oversees design, inspection, and repair of building systems and utilities across state-owned properties.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years project management experience, with 3 years in a managerial role.
• Experience overseeing multi-agency or multi-site facility inventories spanning hundreds of buildings.
• Hands-on management of hazardous materials abatement and underground storage tank compliance programs.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple competing projects.
• Direct experience preparing and executing public-sector capital maintenance budgets and navigating state procurement regulations.
• Experience with public sector enterprise resource planning or asset management tracking systems.
