Job summary

The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission is seeking a Division Chief to lead six work groups and manage a multi-million dollar operating and infrastructure budget. You will oversee Fleet, Buildings & Structures, Horticulture & Forestry, Major Maintenance & Inspection, Critical Projects, and Administration/Management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Parks, Recreation, Public Administration, Engineering, Business Administration or any related field.
• Eight (8) years of experience in Park and Recreation or Public administration/management that relates to the functional area and includes four (4) years at a supervisory level.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, which together total twelve (12) years.
• Valid driver's license in accordance with both State and Commission rules and regulations; license must be unencumbered.

Responsibilities

• Manage six major work groups: Fleet Management, Buildings & Structures, Horticulture & Forestry, Major Maintenance & Inspection, Critical Projects, Administration/Management and Supervision.
• Supervise approximately 172 staff and oversee $39M in operating funds plus $6M in infrastructure improvement funds.
• Forecast upcoming projects with staff/equipment needs and cost assessments.
• Set overall performance standards and build strong working relationships with union employees/representatives.

Education
