Job summary

The Grand Hotel Golf Resort & Spa, Autograph Collection, in Fairhope, Alabama, is seeking an experienced Assistant Chief Engineer to support the Chief Engineer in leading daily resort maintenance and operations.

You will oversee HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life-safety systems, and guest areas, coordinate preventative maintenance, and mentor engineering staff to ensure safety, reliability, and exceptional guest experiences.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical education or bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Previous engineering, maintenance, or facilities leadership experience, preferably in a hotel or resort environment.
• Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, and life‑safety systems.
• Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to provide hands‑on technical support and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Required certifications necessary to comply with applicable local and national codes.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily Engineering operations and assist Chief Engineer, stepping in as department leader in their absence.
• Maintain HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, water treatment, equipment, life-safety systems, buildings and guest areas.
• Coordinate inspections, preventative maintenance programs, and repair work orders for timely completion.
• Lead, train, and coach Engineering staff while ensuring compliance with OSHA, policies, safety procedures, and codes.
• Respond to maintenance-related guest concerns and collaborate with resort departments, vendors, and contractors.
• Assist with budget control, tools/supplies, energy monitoring, and coordinating renovations or capital projects.
