Job summary

Ascent Hospitality’s SpringHill Suites Montgomery Downtown hotel is seeking a hands-on Chief Engineer for the Engineering Department. You will lead maintenance, safety, and the building’s overall condition, supervise the engineering team, and drive preventative maintenance programs to keep guest suites, public areas, and systems fully functional.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the daily operations of the hotel's Engineering and Maintenance Department.
• Supervise, train, coach, and develop Engineering Team members to deliver consistent, high-quality work.
• Develop, implement, and monitor preventative maintenance programs for the hotel.
• Inspect guest suites, public areas, fitness areas, guest laundry, back-of-house areas, exterior spaces, equipment, and building systems to identify maintenance needs.
• Troubleshoot and oversee repairs involving HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, life-safety, and general building systems.
• Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies and critical equipment issues.
• Prioritize and manage maintenance work orders, ensuring timely completion and appropriate documentation.
• Maintain accurate engineering logs, inspection records, preventative maintenance schedules, and equipment documentation.
• Monitor and maintain the hotel's HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, water, fire/life-safety, and other building systems.
• Manage maintenance tools, equipment, inventory, parts, and supplies to support efficient department operations.
• Coordinate and supervise outside vendors, contractors, inspections, and service providers.
• Assist with budgeting, purchasing, cost control, and planning for Engineering Department needs.
• Support property improvement projects, renovations, capital projects, and equipment replacements.
• Ensure compliance with Marriott brand standards, company policies, safety requirements, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
• Conduct regular property inspections and identify opportunities to improve safety, efficiency, appearance, and guest satisfaction.
• Partner with the General Manager and hotel leadership team to address maintenance priorities and property needs.
• Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, accountability, responsiveness, and exceptional guest service.
• Ensure the hotel maintains a clean, safe, comfortable, and well-functioning environment that exceeds guest expectations.
