Job summary

North Wind is seeking a Deputy Chief Engineer in Minnesota to lead the design, development, and optimization of hypersonic test facilities. You will work closely with the Chief Engineer and interface with the engineering team, project manager, subcontractors, and customer to ensure technical integrity and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in technical leadership of multi-disciplinary teams.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills in fast-paced environments.
• Experience with design and analysis of custom one-off systems.
• Familiarity with MBSE and requirements management tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and optimization of hypersonic test facilities.
• Coordinate with Project Manager, Chief Engineer, and customers.
• Manage integration of structural, mechanical, thermal, and electrical components.
• Drive risk management, cost, schedule, and safety considerations.
• Mentor junior engineers and ensure technical rigor across reviews.
• Ensure documentation and verification plans meet standards.
