Clay County in Moorhead, MN seeks a Full-Time Deputy Auditor - Payroll to manage bi-weekly payroll and ensure accurate tax, benefit, and deduction setups.

The role requires an associate degree in accounting or related field and 1–3 years payroll experience, with a background check. Starting wage is $27.68 per hour, with a full range of $27.68–$38.68 per hour and a comprehensive county benefits package.

Responsibilities

• Process bi-weekly payroll
• Verifies that all employees in payroll are set up and maintained with correct insurance plans, pay, ABT’s, Federal and State taxes, PERA plans, deductions and accruals.
• Creates and processes current monthly, quarterly and year-end report by deadlines. This includes: bi-weekly PERA, quarterly MN Unemployment, Work Comp, W2’s and special payroll requests.
• Contacts department heads, supervisors and employees when time sheets, W-4’s , etc. are incomplete or incorrect.
• Determines when to implement changes to the organizational files and add new insurance plans, general ledger numbers, labor allocations, garnishments, earning codes, ABT’s, and deductions as needed.
• Attends training, seminars and meetings to keep up to date in payroll process and policies.
• Other duties as assigned
