UC San Diego Health Sciences is seeking a Department Business Officer to lead the department's strategic, operational, and financial functions. You will oversee budgeting, academic HR, sponsored research administration, space and facilities, IT, and compliance, reporting to the Chair and Associate Dean.

Ideal candidates have extensive senior administrative experience in academic medicine, strong negotiation and leadership skills, and a track record of policy implementation and stakeholder

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's degree in business, health administration, or related area; or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of relevant management experience in complex academic/health org.
• Experience leading an academic research dept with large federally funded portfolio.
• Excellent collaboration and conflict management skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to coach faculty and supervisors.
• Proven project management ability, incl. space-related projects.
• Ability to analyze complex issues and propose multiple options.
• Advanced knowledge of financial analysis, budgeting, and internal controls.
• Strong negotiation skills and conflict resolution abilities.
• Experience with faculty and staff HR administration and policy implementation.
• Knowledge of sponsored research administration and federal guidelines.
• Demonstrated fiscal stewardship and attention to detail.

Aufgaben

• Lead strategic, operational, and financial leadership for the department.
• Oversee financial management, budget, HR, sponsored research admin, and compliance.
• Partner with Chair and health sciences leadership to shape strategy.
• Direct space, facilities, IT, and regulatory compliance operations.
• Represent the Chair to health sciences campus, sponsors, and external partners.
• Ensure sound stewardship of resources and achievement of goals.
