Job summary

UC San Diego Health Sciences seeks a proactive Department Business Officer (DBO) for the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine. The DBO leads financial, personnel and sponsored research administration and partners with the Chair and School of Medicine leadership to advance research and education missions.

You will oversee budget, space, IT, compliance, and centers/cores, manage a large federally funded portfolio, and coach managers to maintain fiscal integrity and excellent service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in business/health administration.
• Eight or more years of experience managing administrative and financial operations in a complex academic/health organization.
• Experience leading an academic research department, center, or institute with large federally funded portfolio and supervising staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic, operational, and financial leadership to support research, education, and service missions.
• Direct financial management, budgeting, academic personnel, sponsored research administration, space, IT, and regulatory compliance.
• Represent the Chair and liaise with Health Sciences, School of Medicine, campus leadership, sponsors, and external partners.
