Position Overview

Jersey Shore University Medical Center (JSUMC) seeks a dynamic and experienced leader to serve as Chair of the Department of Dentistry and Director of our General Practice Residency (GPR) Program. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of dental education and patient care in a thriving academic medical center.

About The GPR Program

Our one-year GPR program welcomes five residents annually, offering a robust and diverse clinical experience. Residents provide comprehensive patient care at the Jane Booker Family Health Center, with opportunities to collaborate with dental specialists, receive tailored training, and gain experience in operating room procedures under general anesthesia.

Chair Responsibilities

• Lead the Department of Dentistry, overseeing residency, faculty, and clinical operations.
• Manage resident recruitment, training, and evaluation; mentor faculty and residents.
• Provide direct patient care (minimum half-day per week) and ensure high-quality, evidence-based dental services.
• Manage departmental budget, develop business plans, lead quality improvement initiatives, and maintain CODA accreditation.
• Participate in medical and dental staff activities, including credentialing and resource management.
• Collaborate with hospital leadership and external providers.

Qualifications

• DDS/DMD degree and eligibility for New Jersey licensure.
• Completion of an accredited GPR program.
• Minimum two years of post-GPR experience.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with CODA accreditation.
• Interest in special needs patients, implant dentistry, clinical research, and operating room procedures.
