Overview

The Division of Center for Health Equity & Community Wellness (CHECW) employs a racial and social justice approach to eliminate health inequities among marginalized communities in New York City. It aims to reduce premature mortality from preventable causes, focusing on social and environmental factors impacting health, and increasing investment in priority neighborhoods.

Bureau Description

The Bureau of Health Equity Capacity Building (BHECB) develops collective strategies to enhance community power and address health inequities. It includes units focused on policy, community capacity, and behavioral health resilience, all working towards health equity and climate justice.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage the Climate Health Program, fostering external partnerships and collaboration.
  2. Conduct research on climate health policies and evidence-based strategies for climate resilience.
  3. Evaluate programs for inequities and opportunities to integrate climate justice.
  4. Coordinate with relevant units to develop and oversee the Climate Health Program agenda.
  5. Supervise staff with expertise in community engagement, social resiliency, and climate health management.
  6. Support environmental health emergency preparedness and response efforts.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience working in high-need communities, building coalitions, and developing partnerships.
  • Skills in scientific communication, climate communication, and user-centered design.
  • Interest or experience in public health impacts of air pollution, heat, and related issues.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

Salary Range

$95,070.00 – $122,000.00
