Position Summary

The Department Administrator will serve as strategic administrativesupport to the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences facilitatingand executing the various administrative duties of the Department.The Department Administrator should be a self-directed professionalwho serves as a strategic partner to the chair performing tasks andresponsibilities aimed at maximizing the effectiveness of the chairand operations of the department.


The Department Administrator will be engaged in all aspects of thedepartment including recruitment, budgeting and reporting, studentservices and supervision.


Specific duties include, but are not limited to:


  • Provide direct administrative support to the Department Chairincluding but not limited to assistance with strategic planning,calendar support and coordination of annual faculty reviewprocess.

  • Administrative oversight of department operations includesserving as an advisor and confidant to the chair on matters relatedto department operations.

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the pharmaceutical sciencesgraduate programs including onboarding, enrollment, tuitionremission, appointment, academic monitoring, and coordinatingservices. General office management includes coordinating andexecuting day-to-day operations of the department, providingsupervision of department staff, and setting up systems that resultin clear reporting, consistent and responsible management, with anoverall focus on compliance.

  • The Department Administrator works closely with the SPPS Dean'sOffice, particularly in matters related to resource planningincluding financial reporting and projections, budget development,personnel and developing and implementing school and universitypolicies and procedures.

  • Provide supervisory oversight to department staff members, workstudy students, and student assistants.


Successful candidate must be able to collaborate with and supportmultiple members of a diverse school and university community,participating wherever necessary to ensure smooth and efficientoperations, as well as continuously analyzing the work andidentifying areas for improvement. They must be able to multitaskacross strategic project areas, ensure consistent follow-upandfollow-through and have excellent communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor's Degree Experience with 2 years of progressivelyresponsible experience. Equivalent combination of education andexperience would be considered.

  • Must possess excellent verbal, written, and interpersonalskills

  • Strong organization skills, attention to detail and ability tomarange multiple projects


Preferred Qualifications


  • Master's degree preferred.
