Job summary

State University of New York at Buffalo’s School of Dental Medicine seeks a Patient Manager to coordinate patient flow for student clinics and manage records and insurance verifications. The role reports to the Patient Manager Lead and requires strong communication and organizational skills.

Typical hours are Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m., at South Campus. Familiarity with EMR systems and dental office processes is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma.
• One year of relevant experience.
• Associates degree or higher preferred.
• Three years of experience preferred.
• Dental office experience preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Familiar with Microsoft Office and virtual platforms.

Responsibilities

• Manage / Schedule patients for students.
• Schedule follow-up appointments with faculty and assigned student.
• Maintain faculty clinic coverage and coordinate with staff.
• Coordinate schedule changes with students, staff and faculty.
• Manage forms, referrals, screenings, cancellations and reschedules.
• Create new patient records and verify insurance.
• Attend scheduled meetings 4-5 times each semester.
• Mail out patient correspondences and answer inquiries.
• Assign recall patients to students on recall rotation.
• Assist with EMR documentation.
• Block and modify student schedules for time off.
• Schedule predoc endo screening and referrals.
• Create patient charts and verify insurance as needed.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by clinical leadership.
