Job summary

UT Health San Antonio is seeking a detail-oriented assistant to manage instrument tracking, sterilization, and dispensing within the dental clinic. Responsibilities include preparing materials for patient care, inspecting return equipment, and maintaining inventory across dispensing areas and laboratories.

The role requires basic MS Office skills, ability to read safety and procedure manuals, and at least one year of related experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• One year related experience is required.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and orders materials used for patient care and laboratory procedures; inspects equipment packages for completeness upon return.
• Performs all established infection-control maintenance protocols inside and outside the clinic area.
• Maintains inventory and stacks dental consumables and supplies into dispensing areas and laboratories.
• Maintains and controls dispensing of supplies/equipment to students and faculty to include follow-up on all loaned equipment, proper utilization, clinic compliance, and equipment loan policies.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
