Job summary

University of Alabama at Birmingham is seeking a Patient Services Coordinator II to coordinate and administer clinical and patient services within the Endodontics Clinic. The role supports smooth clinic operations, inventory, scheduling, and cooperation with vendors and the care team.

The position requires excellent communication, organization, and customer service skills, with onsite work arrangement. Prior dental office experience and CPC certification are preferred and encouraged.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and two years office/clerical experience in customer service, call center, physician office or other clinical environment required.
• Demonstrated organizational and leadership skills; excellent customer service and communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates scheduling and facilitates pre-certification and admitting processes as necessary.
• Coordinates outpatient scheduling and facilitates pre-certification for diagnostic testing and specialty referrals.
• Serves as an advocate for patient and patient family assisting patients and patient families with obtaining services and assistance available within the University or Birmingham community.
• Answers patient inquiries verbally or in writing, acting as an advocate.
• Provides and documents a thorough and accurate record of patient plans and interactions.
• Performs administrative functions such as collaborating with other members of the care team; may assign work to others and order supplies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
