Job summary

Alvin College is seeking a Part-Time Instructor Pool to support the Dental Assisting program. The role involves supervising a dental lab, assisting the instructor with lab activities, and ensuring readiness of equipment and materials for instruction.

The position is limited to 19 hours per week and assignments vary throughout the academic year. Flex scheduling may include days, evenings, or weekends to meet program needs.

Qualifications

• Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and intermediate computer skills.
• Working knowledge of Blackboard course management system.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate in the lab setting for Dental Assisting students.
• Assist the Dental Assisting instructor during lab sessions, competencies, evaluations, and open lab activities.
• Prepare, organize, and inventory lab supplies, equipment, instruments, dental manikins, sterilization/autoclave equipment, and x-ray units to ensure readiness for instruction.
• Support course materials, assessments, records, and technology used to support lab instruction and program outcomes.
• Maintain current knowledge of dental assisting practices and college procedures through ongoing professional development.
