Job summary

CHCP (The College of Health Care Professions) seeks a Dental Assistant Laboratory Skills Instructor to contribute to the education and hands-on training of Dental Assistant students. The role supports the Program Director and employs classroom teaching, clinical practicums, simulations, and skills labs to deliver objectives.

The position is part-time and hybrid, with locations in San Antonio, Austin, Dallas, or Ft.

Qualifications

• Degree or post-secondary education meeting state (TWC) and ABHES accreditation requirements.
• Minimum of 5 years of practical experience in the dental assisting field; teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver assigned classes using prescribed courses of study, established texts, and instructional materials.
• Maintain the classroom and laboratory environments in optimal condition.
• Supervise students in laboratory and clinical settings, ensuring adherence to safety and educational standards.
• Review and manage the procurement of medical supplies for laboratory experiences.
• Provide hands-on instruction through demonstrations and practical exercises.
• Evaluate student learning by assessing competencies through return demonstrations.
• Sign and date student skill checklists to document progress and competency.
• Manage simulation scenarios and assess student responses for effectiveness and accuracy.
• Communicate knowledge effectively with enthusiasm and confidence to inspire student engagement.
• Stay current with healthcare practices and standards in the assigned courses.
• Perform related duties as required to support program objectives.
• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by the Program Director.
