Qualifications

Job Description:

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Cape Cod Community College seeks applicants for the full-time position of Dental Assisting Faculty Member/Program Coordinator. The Dental Assisting Faculty Member/Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the 15-week Certificate Program for dental assisting. Working under the Director of Dental Sciences, the Dental Assisting Faculty Member/Program Coordinator is responsible for planning and delivering didactic and clinical instruction to a diverse population of students, assessing academic performance, and supporting student success. In accordance with Accreditation Standards set forth by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA), the candidate must be competent to deliver a broad scope of dental assisting practice and have documented expertise in their area(s) of teaching responsibility and knowledge of a variety of content delivery methods including distance learning. Course offering and schedules for these programs may be afternoon, evening, weekend and/or summer hours. Position to be filled startingFall 2026 semester.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Coordinate Program curriculum, syllabi, course content, scheduling and program budgeting.
  • Teach in the classroom and clinical areas, including using simulation exercises as available and appropriate.
  • Coordinate clinic and laboratory support (i.e., personnel, equipment purchases and repair needs/documentation).
  • Collaborate with student support areas (i.e., Tutoring, Enrollment, Testing and Advising).
  • Present information sessions and advise prospective students.
  • Regularly meet and advise matriculated students.
  • Coordinate communication and meetings with administration, faculty, and the advisory committee.
  • Aid in recruitment, orientation, and mentoring of faculty and staff.
  • Maintain CODA accreditation of the Program, including working across departments and divisions to ensure accreditation compliance.
  • Develop a system of tracking evidence of attainment of competencies.
  • Develop and conduct program/department assessment (enrollment, retention, program learning outcomes, national exam results, etc.) for internal Academic Program Review and accreditation materials.
  • Coordinate and accompany students and maintainexternship placements.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with all potential externship sites and funding sources.
  • Support grant creation and application for the Program as appropriate.
  • Assist in the development of marketing materials (e.g., flyers, brochures, mailings) and coordinate promotion in cooperation with the Office of College Communications.
  • Other duties within the Program as assigned.
Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in dental sciences, education or a related field.
  • Certification as Dental Assisting National Board "Certified Dental Assistant" from an accredited institution or dentist-licensed to practice in Massachusetts.
  • Status as a Dental Assistant in good standing, with occupational experience in the application of fourhanded dentistry principles.
  • Two years of successful college teaching, preferably in a community college or technical college setting.
  • Three years of clinical practice experience.
  • Prior experience in educational theory and methodology (e.g., curriculum development, educational psychology, test construction, measurement and evaluation) including recent experience in Dental Assisting methodology OSHA compliance coordination experience.
  • Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

ADDITIONALPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in dental sciences, education or related field
  • Registered Dental Hygienist licensed to practice in Massachusetts in good standing.
  • Experience with the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) process.
  • Experience in clinical coordination.

Additional Information:

COMPENSATION:

Full-time, tenure-track, MCCC Unit position. Anticipated salary range between$62,494-$74,694. Actual salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, determined by a formula-based classification system, consistent with the MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement.Includes participation in a comprehensive employee benefits program including option to participate in Massachusetts State Employees' Retirement System.
