Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Dental Assistant to provide chairside support for faculty providers across dental specialties, including anesthesia management. The role includes operatory setup, instrument sterilization, radiographs, and patient transport within MUSC CDM clinics.

Minimum requirements include an ADA‑accredited dental assisting program and 1 year of experience (or 3 years otherwise). Radiation safety certification is required for x-ray positions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with ADA accredited dental assisting course and 1 year of experience.
• Alternatively, high school diploma with 3 years dental assisting experience.

Responsibilities

• Chairside assisting for multiple specialties under supervision.
• Set up operatory for dental and surgical procedures; maintain sterilization and infection control.
• Acquire radiographs per treatment plan following safety standards.
• Assist with patient transport and monitoring during anesthesia recovery.
• Maintain supplies, inventory, MSDS notebook, and report equipment issues.
