Job description

Position Summary

On‑call Dental Assistant position available for our Mount Vernon Dental Clinic. The candidate will assist the dental provider in the delivery of dental procedures allowed by the Washington State Dental Practice Act, including restorative, prosthodontics, endodontics, orthodontics, oral surgery, and other procedures permitted by state law.

Major Duties
  • Maintain proper records for material safety data sheets (MSDS) and spore tests.
  • Manage inventory of dental supplies.
  • Assist in training new Dental Assistants and organizing schedules to generate checklists for maintenance of dental procedures.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Must possess a valid Washington State license, basic life support (BLS) certification, organizational skills, dental record experience, and computer proficiency.
  • Excellent customer‑service skills, with strong communication, reading, and writing in English. Ability to interpret common written material about dentistry.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Dental Assistant II: Completion of a formal Dental Assistant program at a college, technical institute, or equivalent, with a minimum of 6 months (or 18 months for those without formal training) of work experience.
  • Dental Assistant III: Knowledge of proper sterilization methods, OSHA regulations, and quality improvement. Capable of duplicating and mounting radiographs, placing temporary restorations, taking impressions, pouring and trimming models, placing retraction cords, placing matrix bands, performing coronal polish, and administering fluoride treatments. Requires 2 years of experience (or 3 years for those without formal training).
