Job summary

Sea Mar Community Health Centers, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Washington, seeks Dental Assistant II/III for the Monroe Clinic. On-call shifts may require coverage at Everett, Marysville, and Lynnwood clinics.

Qualifications

• Must have WA State license, BLS, organizational skills, dental record experience and familiarity with computers.
• Must be able to communicate, read and write in English; bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
• Preferred ortho experience.
• Dental Assistant II requires formal DA program with 6 months of work experience; without formal training, 18 months of DA experience.
• Dental Assistant III requires sterilization knowledge, radiographs, temporary restorations, impressions, models, retraction cord, matrix bands, coronal polish and fluoride treatments; 2 years of experience; 3 years if no formal training.

Responsibilities

• Assist dental provider in Restorative, Prosthodontics, Endodontics, Orthodontics, Oral Surgery and other WA Dental Practice Act procedures.
• Duplicate and mount radiographs, place temporary restorations, take impressions, pour and trim models, place retraction cord, place matrix bands, perform coronal polish and fluoride treatments.
• Maintain MSDS records, spore tests, inventory of dental supplies, train new Dental Assistants and organize schedules to generate checklists.

Hourly Range: $21.69 - $23.57

Position Summary

On-call Dental Assistant position available for our Monroe Dental Clinic. If needed, this position may be required to travel to the Everett, Marysville, and Lynnwood clinics to cover open shifts. Candidate will assist the dental provider in the delivery of dental procedures allowed by the WA State Dental Practice Act. Other responsibilities are as follows: assist provider in Restorative, Prosthodontics, Endodontics, Orthodontics, Oral Surgery procedures, and any other procedures allowed by the WA Dental Practice Act.

As a Dental Assistant, applicant must be knowledgeable of the proper sterilization methods and OSHA regulations including Quality Improvement. Must be able to duplicate and mount radiographs, place temporary restorations, take impressions, pour and trim models, place retraction cord, place matrix bands, perform coronal polish and give fluoride treatments. Duties include maintaining proper records for material safety data sheets (MSDS), spore test, inventory of dental supplies, assist in training new Dental Assistants and organize schedules to generate check lists for maintenance of dental procedures.

Qualifications and/or Experience

• Applicant must have a valid WA State license, basic life support (BLS) certification, organizational skills, dental record experience and familiarity with the utilization of computers.
• Excellent customer service skills required for this position. Must be able to communicate, read and write in English and have the ability to interpret common written material about dentistry.
• Preferred bilingual in English/Spanish.
• Preferred previous ortho experience.

As a Dental Assistant II, applicant must have completed a formal Dental Assistant program at a College, Technical Institute or equivalent. A minimum of 6 months of work experience is required. Employee with no formal training must have a minimum of 18 months of work experience in a Dental Assistant position.

As a Dental Assistant III, applicant must be knowledgeable of the proper sterilization methods and OSHA regulations including QI. Able to duplicate and mount radiographs, place temporary restorations, take impressions, pour and trim models, place retraction cord, place matrix bands, perform coronal polish and give fluoride treatments. Applicant must have 2 years working experience. Employees with no formal training must have a minimum of 3 years of experience working in a Dental Assistant position.
