Job summary

The Colorado Department of Corrections is hiring a Dental Assistant to support the Sterling Correctional Facility dental clinic. You will assist the dentist in routine and emergency care, manage scheduling, sterilization, infection control, and equipment maintenance within a prison clinical setting.

The role requires at least two years of chairside experience and may prefer certification in dental assisting and radiography.

Qualifications

• Two years of full-time, professional work experience as a Dental Assistant providing chair side assistance to adults.
• Experience in General Dentistry or Oral Surgery preferred.
• Substitutions allowed with accredited dental assisting program documentation.

Responsibilities

• Obtain digital x-rays and set up restorative procedures.
• Educate inmates about preventive dental health care.
• Sterilize instruments and equipment and manage waste.
• Monitor radiation safety and infection control guidelines.
• Schedule and perform preventive maintenance on dental equipment.
• Maintain inventory and ensure safety and security of tools and supplies.
• Assist dentist and plan workload and appointment schedules for inmates.
