Job summary

State of Colorado is seeking a Dental Assistant to support routine and emergency dental care at the Sterling Correctional Facility. You will assist the dentist, manage clinic operations, maintain infection control, and ensure compliance with safety standards in a correctional setting.

Responsibilities include scheduling, instrument sterilization, x-ray administration, and patient education, while coordinating with the dentist to optimize work flow and patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Two years of full-time professional dental assistant experience providing chairside assistance.
• A accredited dental assisting program may substitute for one year of required experience.
• Must meet minimum qualifications to be considered for Comparative Analysis.

Responsibilities

• Obtain digital X-rays and set up restorative procedures.
• Educate inmates about preventive dental health care.
• Sterilize instruments and equipment and dispose of medical waste.
• Maintain infection control and radiation safety practices according to standards.
• Plan workload and appointment schedules for inmates to maximize efficiency.
• Triage dental requests and schedule treatments accordingly.
• Assist with ACA documentation and audit preparation.
