Job summary

Rodeo Dental & Orthodontics in Tucson, AZ is seeking a dedicated dental assistant to support our fast-growing multi-specialty practice. You will help maintain patient safety, assist clinicians, and manage digital records and X-rays.

Responsibilities include preparing exam rooms, charting treatments, and educating patients on oral health. A valid AZ X-ray certification and CPR/AED training are required; Spanish language skills are a plus.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Active CPR and AED training.
  • X-Ray certification required in AZ or DANB.
  • Current certification to monitor Nitrous Oxide.
  • OSHA/HIPAA and Infection Control training required.
  • Dental software experience (Open Dental/Dentrix) helpful.
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize patient and team safety at all times.
  • Adhere to OSHA and infection control protocols and dispose of sharps promptly.
  • Maintain digital patient records including health history and treatment plans.
  • Educate patients and parents on benefits of good oral health.
  • Monitor patient well-being during visits.
  • Prepare tray setups according to doctor preferences.
  • Ensure exam rooms are cleaned, disinfected, and stocked.
  • Chart treatments and update patient charts with procedures.
  • Take diagnostic X-Rays and attach to charts.
  • Assist Rodeo Team with cleaning and sanitizing areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Active CPR and AED training
  • Must have an X-Ray Certification from the State of Arizona or DANB
  • Current certification to monitor Nitrous Oxide
  • Maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA and Infection Control training
  • Dental practice management software (Open Dental/Dentrix) experience helpful
  • Sealant, Coronal Polishing, or PALS Certifications are all a huge plus!
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is preferred

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Focusing on Patient Safety and Team Safety as priority one
  • Adhering to OSHA and Infection Control Protocols, and disposing of sharps and clinical waste in a prompt and safe manner
  • Maintaining digital patient artifacts such as health history, insurance eligibility, treatment plans, pre-authorizations, lab requests, procedures, and appointment details
  • Educating patients and parents on the benefits of good oral health
  • Monitoring the patient's physical and emotional well-being during the entire visit
  • Preparing tray set-ups according to doctor preferences and planned procedures
  • Ensuring that exam rooms and operatories are cleaned, disinfected, organized, and stocked according to the required standards at the beginning and end of each patient interaction
  • Charting existing treatment for new patients by updating the patient chart with entries for fillings, crowns, sealants, etc.
  • Reviewing the patient chart and health history prior to the doctor arrival and reconfirming the patient's chief concern
  • Taking diagnostic quality X-Rays and attaching them to the patient chart
  • Helping the Rodeo Team clean surfaces, sinks, floors and common areas of exam rooms, operatories, reception, break rooms, restrooms, etc.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged sitting and standing as needed
  • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs
