Job summary

Rodeo Dental & Orthodontics in Tucson, AZ is seeking a qualified dental assistant to support clinical teams across multiple specialties. The role emphasizes patient safety, accurate charting, radiographic imaging, and efficient operatory setup.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Active CPR and AED training.
  • X-Ray Certification from the State of Arizona or DANB.
  • Current certification to monitor Nitrous Oxide.
  • Maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA and Infection Control training.
  • Dental practice management software experience helpful (Open Dental/Dentrix).
  • Sealant, Coronal Polishing, or PALS Certifications are a huge plus.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Focusing on Patient Safety and Team Safety as priority one.
  • Adhering to OSHA and Infection Control Protocols, and disposing of sharps and clinical waste promptly.
  • Maintaining digital patient records: health history, eligibility, treatment plans, authorizations, labs, procedures, and appointments.
  • Educating patients and parents on the benefits of good oral health.
  • Monitoring patient wellbeing during the entire visit.
  • Preparing tray setups per doctor preferences and planned procedures.
  • Ensuring exam rooms and operatories are cleaned, disinfected, organized, and stocked.
  • Charting existing treatment and updating patient charts for fillings, crowns, sealants, etc.
  • Reviewing health history prior to doctor arrival and reconfirming chief concern.
  • Taking diagnostic X-Rays and attaching them to charts.
  • Assisting Rodeo Team with cleaning surfaces and areas.
  • Performing all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Focusing on Patient Safety and Team Safety as priority one
  • Adhering to OSHA and Infection Control Protocols, and disposing of sharps and clinical waste in a prompt and safe manner
  • Maintaining digital patient artifacts such as health history, insurance eligibility, treatment plans, pre-authorizations, lab requests, procedures, and appointment details
  • Educating patients and parents on the benefits of good oral health
  • Monitoring the patient's physical and emotional well-being during the entire visit
  • Preparing tray set-ups according to doctor preferences and planned procedures
  • Ensuring that exam rooms and operatories are cleaned, disinfected, organized, and stocked according to the required standards at the beginning and end of each patient interaction
  • Charting existing treatment for new patients by updating the patient chart with entries for fillings, crowns, sealants, etc.
  • Reviewing the patient chart and health history prior to the doctor arrival and reconfirming the patient's chief concern
  • Taking diagnostic quality X-Rays and attaching them to the patient chart
  • Helping the Rodeo Team clean surfaces, sinks, floors and common areas of exam rooms, operatories, reception, break rooms, restrooms, etc.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Prolonged sitting and standing as needed
  • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs
