VA Smiles in Fredericksburg, Virginia, is seeking a Dental Assistant to support the clinical team and deliver high-quality patient care in a team-based setting.

The ideal candidate has a certified dental assistant program, X-ray certification, and relevant experience. The position is full-time, with a standard Mon-Thu 8am-5pm, Fri 8am-3pm schedule, plus benefits and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Completion of a one-year certified dental assistant program (preferred).
• Minimum 2 years of on-the-job experience.
• X-ray certification required.
• Nitrous oxide certification is highly recommended.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Clinical Support: Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and assist dentists during procedures.
• Patient Care: Welcome, comfort, and educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
• Radiography & Diagnostics: Take and develop X-rays, assist with impressions, and maintain study models.
• Compliance & Safety: Ensure infection control protocols, maintain patient confidentiality, and follow workplace regulations.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation, including scheduling and patient intake (if needed).
• Helps dentist manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supply, and emergency telephone directory.
