Job summary

Brookdale Senior Living is seeking a dedicated caregiver to provide dementia care and support to residents in a community setting. You will assist with daily living activities, engage residents in meaningful activities, and help maintain a safe, respectful living environment.

The role emphasizes personalized care plans, teamwork with staff, and adherence to state regulations for medication assistance where applicable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 3–6 months related experience preferred in direct care with older adults living with dementia.
• Knowledge of dementia and Alzheimer's type.
• Must be able to follow state regulations for medication assistance where applicable.
• Able to read and comprehend simple instructions and perform basic nursing tasks under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Provides dementia care including adapted ADLs, meaningful engagement, and resident communication per individualized service plans.
• Assists residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, transferring, and mobility to promote independence.
• Maintains accurate daily documentation of resident care, health changes, and activities.
• Monitors resident safety, responds to emergencies, and maintains a clean, safe environment.
• Supports meal service and dementia-friendly dining practices; promotes hydration and nutrition.
• Participates in team meetings and shares knowledge of resident life stories and preferences.
