Job summary

Amgen's Rhode Island facility seeks a Manufacturing Systems Engineer to support automation engineering, process control, and project execution in a fast-paced biotech environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma / GED and 8 years of automation and/or engineering experience OR
• Associate’s degree and 6 years of automation and/or engineering experience OR
• Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of automation and/or engineering experience OR
• Master’s degree

Responsibilities

• Provides technical support to commercial manufacturing, specific to process control, automation infrastructure, and process systems
• Works closely with manufacturing, process engineering, utility operations, maintenance, quality assurance, and validation to manage a diverse portfolio of projects
• Leads and supports technical root cause analysis, incident investigations, and troubleshooting on process control issues related to electrical, instrumentation and control systems mainly rooted in DeltaV
• Supports new product introductions or new technology introductions by performing engineering assessments, implementing automation system configuration changes and supporting engineering runs
• Devises new approaches to complex problems through adaptations and modifications of standard automation technical principles
• Develop, organize, analyze, and present results for operational issues and engineering projects of small scope and complexity
• Communicates with multiple levels within the organization, highlighting issues and proposing solutions
• Supports capital project design review, commissioning, and qualification
• Applies automation engineering principles in the design, specification, construction, startup, and validation of process and GMP utilities equipment and systems for an array of projects of significant scope and complexity
• Provides technical support and issue resolution 24x7 on-call support of Automation systems on a rotational based frequency
• Applies experience and knowledge of industry best practices and tools to attain an innovative organization
