Job summary

Carter Lumber is seeking a Dispatcher to coordinate store deliveries and supervise the fleet. You will assign routes to drivers and work with the lumberyard team to ensure loads are built correctly and deliveries depart on time.

Responsibilities include communicating schedule changes, maintaining DOT-compliant logs, and using the dispatch system to boost efficiency. This is a hands-on, active role requiring strong communication and multitasking skills.

Qualifications

• Previous driving and/or dispatching experience
• Knowledge of DOT regulations
• Strong communication skills
• Excellent time management skills
• Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook
• Customer service skills to cultivate relationships
• Ability to multitask while remaining organized
• This is not a desk job, so must enjoy being active

Responsibilities

• Coordinate deliveries with other stores and customers; assign drivers and manage the fleet
• Ensure loads are built correctly and deliveries are made on time
• Communicate changes in delivery schedules promptly
• Ensure delivery equipment is safe and maintained according to DOT regulations; maintain drivers’ logs
• Utilize delivery dispatch management system to improve efficiency
