Job summary

Weavers Way Co-op in Philadelphia is seeking a dependable Deli Supervisor to support the Chestnut Hill deli department. This full-time role (35+ hours weekly) requires experience supervising staff and working in a deli setting, with open weekend availability preferred.

You will train and supervise staff, manage daily priorities, and ensure compliance with health standards, merchandising, and vendor coordination.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Train new departmental staff in standard practices and procedures.

• Ensure proper receiving, pricing, labeling, storage, and rotation.
• Merchandise deli products and create attractive displays with signage.
• Review invoices and coordinate returns with suppliers.
• Maintain vendor files and negotiate terms with suppliers.
• Develop a product database for ordering and pricing.
• Keep displays stocked and rotated for freshness.
• Maintain cleanliness of displays and prep areas per health standards.
• Maintain back stock and supplies; ensure orderly storage.
• Check equipment and report maintenance needs.
• Provide friendly member service and assist with special orders.
• Assist with quarterly inventories and other duties as assigned.

Join Weavers Way Co-op as a Deli Supervisor!

We are seeking a dependable and driven Sandwich Station Supervisor to support the Deli department at our Chestnut Hill location. This is a full-time position with an anticipated 35+ hours per week. Open availability is preferred, and weekend availability as needed. If you have experience supervisor staff and working in a Deli setting then we want to here from you.

• Assist in training new departmental staff in standard practices and procedures, sanitation, product information, and customer service
• Supervise departmental staff: Set daily and long-range priorities for tasks and projects and inform staff
• Observe all Weavers Way policies and procedures
• Coordinate purchasing with the purchasing manager, including monitoring standing orders frequently and adjusting them according to customer demand, seasonal needs, and display limitations
• Ensure proper procedures are followed for receiving, bagging, pricing, labeling, storage, rotation, and display
• Merchandise and market deli products and plan attractive displays with uniform signage
• Review invoices for accuracy and coordinate returns and credit from suppliers where applicable
• Maintain a vendor file and ordering/receiving schedule; negotiate with suppliers for favorable prices, terms, quality, and delivery
• Develop and maintain a product database for use in ordering and pricing
• Ensure that displays are fully stocked and rotated to guarantee freshness
• Keep displays and food prep areas maintained and clean, meeting health department standards
• Develop and maintain a list of supplies needed for deli operations and maintain back stock and supply storage areas for cleanliness and orderliness
• Check equipment to ensure safe and proper operation and report maintenance needs
• Ensure friendly and efficient member service for product information and location, and special orders
• Assist members otherwise as needed or direct their inquiries to someone who can help
• Assist with quarterly inventories
• Perform other duties as assigned by a manager or supervisor

Requirements
