Weavers Way Co-op is seeking a Lead Cashier at our Chestnut Hill location. This part-time role requires 20–29 hours weekly with night and weekend availability. You will lead front-end operations, greet customers, and ensure accurate checkout processing.

The position emphasizes customer service, cash handling, and teamwork within a community-focused co-op. Prior grocery/retail experience and the ability to stand for long periods are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in grocery, retail, or customer service environment.
• Cash handling and POS system experience.
• Ability to repetitively lift items up to 10 lbs and stand for up to 8 hours.
• Strong attention to detail and good organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers in a friendly manner.

• Guide prospective new members through joining procedures.
• Operate cash register and POS system following cash handling policies.
• Check out purchases accurately using correct prices and departments.
• Read produce price sheets and know prices of common items.
• Report price discrepancies to manager.
• Perform duties of Manager on Duty if assigned.
• Follow opening/closing procedures.
• Maintain cashier area in a clean, organized condition.
• Attend meetings as scheduled.

We are looking for an energetic, community-oriented, and experienced individual to work as a Lead Cashier in our Chestnut Hill location. This is a Part time position with an anticipated 20-29 hours per week. night and weekend availability needed. If you have experience working in a team setting and a passion for great customer service, then we want to hear from you!

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Greet customers in a friendly manner.
• Treat customers fairly, consistently, and with respect. Respond quickly and courteously to all requests and complaints from customers and work to ensure that all customers feel satisfied after all interactions
• Guide prospective new members in the procedure for joining the co-op and reinstate members wishing to rejoin after a lapse in membership
• Operate cash register and POS system accurately by following all Cash handling Policies and procedures.
• Check out customer purchases quickly and accurately, using correct prices and departments
• Be adept at reading the produce price sheets and know prices of common items
• Report price discrepancies to the manager on duty or other appropriate colleagues
• If assigned, perform all duties of Manager on Duty
• Follow front-end opening/closing procedures as scheduled
• Maintain the cashier area in a clean, organized, and orderly condition
• Observe all Weavers Way policies and procedures
• Assist with quarterly inventories
• Attend departmental and all-staff meetings as scheduled
• Perform other duties as assigned by a manager or supervisor

Requirements

• Commitment to the mission and goals of Weavers Way Co-operative Association
• Previous experience in a grocery, retail, or customer service environment
• Cash handling and POS system experience
• Ability to repetitively lift items up to 10 lbs.
• Ability to stand in one location for up to 8 hours
• Attention to detail and good organizational skills
• Strong communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to effectively multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently and in a team setting
