Job summary

Weavers Way Co-op in Mt. Airy is seeking a prepared foods cook to join our energetic deli team. This full-time role focuses on producing prepared foods, maintaining kitchen sanitation, and delivering great customer service.

Flexibility for mornings and weekends, 35+ hours a week, and ability to lift up to 50 lbs are required. We offer competitive pay, benefits, and a cooperative, mission-driven workplace.

Qualifications

Join Weavers Way as a Prepared Foods Cook!

We are looking for an energetic, community‑oriented, experienced individual to work as a Deli Clerk in our Mt. Airy location. This position is full‑time with an anticipated 35+ hours per week. Flexibility availability, including mornings and weekends, is required. If you have experience working in a team setting and a passion for great customer service, then we want to hear from you!

Responsibilities Include

• Produce prepared foods according to daily operations list and established recipes, pre-wrap, and label items for sale


• Responsible for kitchen sanitation and clean up


• Weekend work requirements as determined by manager


• Observe all Weavers Way policies and procedures


• Attend departmental and all‑staff meeting


• Assist with quarterly inventories


• Complete evaluations as assigned


• Perform other duties as assigned by the prepared foods manager or manager on duty

Requirements

• Commitment to the mission and goals of Weavers Way Co‑op.


• Prior experience with sandwich, deli, and salad preparation preferred.


• Experience in upscale production of high‑quality sandwiches and green salads is a plus.


• Proficient knife skills.


• Direct customer service experience.


• Knowledge of safe food handling.


• Exhibited ability to work well in a team setting.


• The ability to remain standing for up to 8 hours.


• The ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50lbs.


• Proven ability to work independently and exercise independent judgment when necessary.


• Knowledge of prepared foods and an exhibited enthusiasm for food.


• Be, or become upon hiring, a member in good standing of Weavers Way Co‑op.

Salary Description

$17 per hour
