Job summary

The Fresh Market is seeking a Deli Manager to lead the deli team, oversee inventory, pricing integrity, and training to drive exceptional guest service. This role requires strong attention to detail and a passion for excellence in a fast-paced environment.

You will supervise meat, cheese, and CMS preparations, ensure proper receiving and stock practices, and coach staff using The Fresh Market’s training platform to maintain high standards of safety and guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent plus 3 years of management experience in retail, restaurant, or hospitality or 5 years in related management roles.
• Ability to read, understand and follow planograms, layouts, and schematics of the department for merchandising.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests and proactively assist them with accurate, timely information.
• Make recommendations and accommodate requests.
• Manage order guides, deadlines, and shrink/damage reduction.
• Properly receive/stock goods following rotation standards during replenishment.
• Direct teams to handle, slice and prepare meat, cheeses, and CMS throughout the day.
• Engage, motivate, coach, and train team members on the job and via internal training.

About the Position:

As the Deli Manager, you are taking the lead in directing team members, managing department inventory, pricing integrity, training, and other operational processes that require significant attention to detail. This is a fast-paced position that requires efficiency, effectiveness, and a passion for excellence to drive results.

What You'll Do:

• Greeting guests and proactively assisting them in a friendly manner with accurate and timely information
• Making recommendations and accommodating requests
• Managing order guides/ordering deadlines/reducing shrink/damage

• Properly receiving/stocking of goods that follow rotation standards when replenishing product levels
• Direct teams to handle, slice and prepare a variety of the department’s meat, cheeses, and Convenient Meal Solutions (CMS) throughout the day
• Engage, motivate, coach, and train team members “on-the-job” as well as through The Fresh Market’s internal training platform to provide excellent guest service in a safe and secure manner

Availability:

This position requires the willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, days, evenings, and holidays.

Qualifications:

At a minimum, what you’ll need:

• High School Diploma or equivalent and 3 years of management experience in retail, restaurant, or hospitality field or 5 years of related management experience
