Job summary

The Fresh Market is seeking a Deli Manager in Midlothian, VA. You will lead the deli team, manage department inventory, maintain pricing integrity, and drive training and operational excellence.

This fast-paced role emphasizes accuracy, efficiency, and guest satisfaction throughout daily shifts. Key duties include directing CMS prep, adhering to rotation standards, and coaching staff via internal training platforms to deliver exceptional guest service while maintaining safety and quality

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent with robust retail/food service leadership background.
• Experience managing teams in fast-paced environments such as retail, restaurant, or hospitality.
• Ability to read and follow planograms, layouts, and merchandising schematics.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop deli team, ensuring efficient daily operations.
• Direct inventory management, pricing integrity, and training initiatives.
• Oversee cold-chain handling, CMS preparation, and rotation standards.
• Motivate, coach, and train staff using internal programs and on-the-job guidance.
• Greet guests, provide accurate information, and fulfill requests promptly.

About The Position

As the Deli Manager, you are taking the lead in directing team members, managing department inventory, pricing integrity, training, and other operational processes that require significant attention to detail. This is a fast-paced position that requires efficiency, effectiveness, and a passion for excellence to drive results.

The pay range for this position is $18.40 - $23.00 per hour

What You'll Do

• Greeting guests and proactively assisting them in a friendly manner with accurate and timely information
• Making recommendations and accommodating requests
• Managing order guides/ordering deadlines/reducing shrink/damage
• Properly receiving/stocking of goods that follow rotation standards when replenishing product levels
• Direct teams to handle, slice and prepare a variety of the department’s meat, cheeses, and Convenient Meal Solutions (CMS) throughout the day
• Engage, motivate, coach, and train team members “on-the-job” as well as through The Fresh Market’s internal training platform to provide excellent guest service in a safe and secure manner

Availability:

This position requires the willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, days, evenings, and holidays.

Qualifications

At a minimum, what you’ll need:

• High School Diploma or equivalent and 3 years of management experience in retail, restaurant, or hospitality field or 5 years of related management experience
• Ability to read, understand and follow planograms, layouts, and schematics of the department for merchandising
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Must be at least 18 years old
