Job summary

Shaw’s and Star Market is seeking a Deli Clerk to help customers choose deli meats, cheeses, hot foods, and prepared items. You will slice meats, assemble grab‑and‑go options, and ensure fast, friendly service in a busy deli environment.

You’ll also maintain stock levels, keep displays appealing, monitor freshness and temperatures, and support daily operations with accuracy and safety in mind.

Qualifications

• Customer interactions with clear communication in person or by phone.
• Experience preparing deli products including slicing, assembling, and portioning.
• Understanding of deli meats, cheeses, prepared foods, and hot case items.
• Accuracy in portioning, labeling, pricing, and order completion.
• Managing multiple tasks while keeping workflow and service speed.
• Keeping display cases stocked, clean, and visually consistent.
• Processing transactions and making accurate change using register systems.
• Following food safety, sanitation, and company procedures.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with changing demand.
• Standing for extended periods, lifting up to 35 lbs, and varying temperatures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare fresh deli items and assist customers.

• Keep the deli department stocked, clean, and ready throughout the day.
• Monitor product freshness and maintain correct temperature in display cases.
