Job summary

Kennie’s Market in Kentucky is seeking a Deli Service Clerk to support the Deli Department with daily operations and exceptional customer service. Training is provided, and you will help with slicing meats and cheeses, weighing salads, and keeping the case well stocked.

The role emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and teamwork across departments as promotions and store needs arise. This is an on-site, entry-level position at Kennie’s Market.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Set up hot foods case for the day.
• Wait on customers by slicing deli meats and cheeses to their satisfaction and by dishing up and weighing salads from the cold deli case.
• Keep the food service area well stocked with products.
• Assist in making, wrapping and pricing pizzas, strombolis, sandwiches, etc.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the sales area.
• Wrap lunch meats and cheeses at closing and store in cooler.
• Tear down chip section at closing.
• Cooperate with department teammates during promotions.
• Follow all safety standards and perform other duties as directed by deli leadership.
• Uphold department quality and safety in the absence of managers.

The Deli Service Clerk is responsible for performing duties as directed by the Deli Manager and/or Asst. Deli Manager for the efficient operation of the Deli Department. The Deli Clerk is responsible for ensuring all Kennie’s customers are provided with the highest quality products and excellent customer service.

Requirements:

• EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: No prior experience required. Training will be provided.
• LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of this organization.
• MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: None.
• REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

• Consistently keeps the food service section well stocked with product.

• Wraps lunch meats and cheeses at closing and put them in cooler.

• Cooperates with fellow department employees and other departments during inter-departmental or store wide promotions.
• Responsible for obeying all safety standards.
• Performs other appropriate duties as directed by the Deli Manager, Assistant Deli Manager, Assistant Store Manager or Store Manager.
• Responsible for upholding department quality and safety standards in the absence of the department manager or assistant manager.
