Job summary

IDEX Corporation is seeking a Production Supervisor for the Defense Value Stream in a hands-on manufacturing environment. You will lead daily operations, ensure safety and quality, and drive continuous improvement on the shop floor.

You will collaborate with planning, engineering, and quality teams to meet customer commitments while developing team capability and standard work across a low‑volume, high‑mix optical manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, Management, Optics or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in a technical manufacturing environment.
• Previous supervisory or direct people leadership experience preferred.
• Experience with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Experience in cleanroom, ESD-controlled, or other controlled manufacturing environments preferred.
• Optical manufacturing, coatings, defense or other precision‑engineering manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily manufacturing operations to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity objectives.
• Translate production schedules and priorities into clear daily expectations for the team.
• Prioritize work based on customer demand, constraints, staffing, and resources.
• Monitor production performance, identify risks, and adjust priorities as needed.
• Lead daily production meetings and communicate priorities and performance across teams.
• Ensure effective shift handoffs and timely escalation of issues.
• Partner with Operations Manager and Planning on production requirements and capacity.
