Job summary

Jobot in Orange, CA is seeking a skilled litigation attorney with 1–3+ years of defense experience. A California Bar license in good standing is required. This role offers fully remote or hybrid/onsite arrangements and a competitive compensation package.

Qualifications

• Experience in general liability and/or subrogation a plus.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage an active caseload from inception through resolution.
• Take and defend party, witness, and expert depositions.
• Draft, review, and argue pleadings, motions, and discovery-related matters.
• Conduct written discovery including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission.
• Attend court appearances, hearings, mediations, and arbitrations.
• Develop litigation strategy and assess liability throughout the case lifecycle.
• Prepare matters for trial with witness prep and exhibit management.

Job Duties

• Independently manage an active caseload from inception through resolution
• Take and defend party, witness, and expert depositions
• Draft, review, and argue pleadings, motions, and discovery-related matters
• Conduct written discovery, including preparing and responding to interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission
• Attend court appearances, hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and arbitrations
• Develop litigation strategy and assess liability and exposure throughout the life of a case
• Prepare matters for trial, including witness preparation, exhibit management, and trial strategy development
• Communicate directly with clients, insurance carriers, opposing counsel, experts, and other relevant parties
• Analyze case facts, damages, and legal issues to formulate recommendations and case strategy
• Negotiate settlements and assist with dispute resolution efforts
• Maintain organized case documentation and timely reporting requirements
• Partner closely with litigation support staff to ensure efficient case management

Job Requirements

• Active California Bar license in good standing
• 1 to 3+ years of litigation defense experience, preferably within general liability and/or subrogation matters
• Ability to independently manage a litigation caseload with minimal supervision
• Experience with MerusCase case management software preferred
