UC San Diego invites applications for a Deep Pelagic Biologist within the Integrative Oceanography Division (IOD) at SIO. The role involves coordinating with FIU, conducting fieldwork at sea, performing laboratory analyses, and integrating results across disciplines.

Qualificações

• Extensive research experience with deep pelagic scientific techniques aboard seagoing research vessels.
• Demonstrated experience with general laboratory upkeep, including purchasing, safely storing, and handling various chemicals and lab supplies; maintain frozen specimen libraries.
• Taxonomic and morphological familiarity with identifying, sorting, and dissecting diverse marine specimens.
• Theoretical and practical knowledge of marine biology and ecology, especially deep pelagic environments.
• Data processing and computing with R, PRIMER, and Microsoft Word/Excel.

Responsabilidades

• Plan and execute diverse deep-sea biological research projects with PI collaboration.
• Conduct seagoing fieldwork, data collection, lab experiments, data analysis, statistics, and reporting.
