Job summary

UC San Diego's Integrative Oceanography Division seeks a researcher to develop computational, data science, and CI tools for ocean observing. You will work with SCCOOS and IOOS partners on HPC projects, data solutions, and end-user tools for climate services.

The role requires broad computing/data skills, collaboration across teams, and the ability to communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences while meeting project timelines.

Qualifications

• Advanced skills in programming design for ocean science applications.
• Ability to map SCCOOS datasets to netCDF/THREDDS or MySQL.
• Experience in HPC, data science infrastructure and CI tools.
• Proven ability to solve broad computing/data problems independently.
• Experience contributing to grant proposals.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of computational, data science, and CI tools for ocean observing projects.
• Collaborate with SCCOOS Data Management and CI teams on current and future HPC initiatives.
• Perform data solutions for end-user requests in ocean and climate services.
• Engage with diverse communities and present technical concepts to varied audiences.
• Coordinate across IOOS regions to meet schedules and requirements.
