Job summary

Sauer Brands, Inc. seeks a Deductions Specialist to efficiently process customer deductions in collaboration with the Sales Accounting team. You will validate claims, approve or reject deductions, and route them to the Credit team for processing or repayment. Reports to the AR/Credit Manager and will drive timely, accurate deductions handling.

The role emphasizes data-driven decision making, effective communication, and strict adherence to timelines while supporting ongoing process improvements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; college accounting classes or degree preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant accounting experience.

Responsibilities

• Process deductions within defined timelines and analyze data to reduce future occurrences.
• Gather backup to validate deductions with sales team and customers via email, phone, or portals.
• Assess deduction validity using research and clear deductions with vouchers or credit memos.
• Analyze customer trends and root causes to drive process improvements.
• Research transactions and trends using web-enabled and desktop applications.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and participate in special projects as needed.

Overall Goal of the Position:

Effectively and efficiently process customer deductions, support the Sales Accounting team.

Job Summary:

The Deductions Specialist role ensures the timely and accurate processing of deductions, working with the Sales Accounting team, approve and enter deductions for clearing. The successful candidate will have the ability to minimize the amount of time customer deductions remain open by quickly and thoroughly validating deduction claims, approving or rejecting based on research, and taking the necessary steps to submit to the Credit team for processing or customer repayment. This position will report to the AR/Credit Manager.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Review and process deductions within a specified timeframe and analyze data to help reduce future occurrences by working with customers and internal business partners.
• Gather backup necessary to validate customer deductions by working with the sales team and customers and help to clear customer deductions via email, phone, customer portals, etc.
• Use critical thinking skills to analyze research results to determine validity of deduction.
• Clear deductions with vouchers or applying credit memos to the original deduction.
• Analyze customer trends and root causes of deductions to assist with actionable improvements in process.
• Research transactions and trends using computer skills in both web-enabled and desktop applications.
• Reconciliation of general ledger accounts
• Work on special projects as needed.

• Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required, college level accounting classes or Accounting Degree preferred.
  • A minimum 3 years’ experience with relevant accounting experience
