Job summary

AEVEX Corp. is seeking a qualified Declassification Review Specialist for our Herndon, VA office.

The role focuses on overseeing the declassification process for litigation-related documents, ensuring accurate chronological records and strict confidentiality. You will coordinate with sponsors and other government agencies, apply EO 13526, FOIA, and Privacy Act guidance, provide redaction rationale, and track decisions in Sponsor systems.

Qualifications

• Active Top Secret security clearance and Polygraph
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of FOIA, Privacy Act, and EOMDR programs and EO 13526 directive
• Knowledge of legal terminology in enforcement or court systems
• Strong work ethic
• Organizational and time management skills
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Access

Responsibilities

• Oversee the declassification of documents for civil or criminal cases.
• Record the chronological order of events from beginning to end.
• Act as a liaison for Other Government Agency (OGA) involved in the process.
• Conduct desktop research to determine relevance of new searches or prior releases.
• Provide rationale for redaction actions using Sponsor guidance and record decisions in Sponsor systems.
• Determine if a record contains OGA equities and requires external referral or non-routine handling; manage the referral process.
• Organize documents for declassification review and assign items to equity holders.
• Research prior declassification/release decisions to ensure accuracy and consistency and provide feedback to the Sponsor.
