Job summary

Commonpoint Queens is seeking a Deck Assistant for the Tanenbaum Family Pool. This seasonal, part-time role supports daily operations, guest services, and safety in a friendly, community-focused environment.

You'll work 20–35 hours per week in person, during the pool season (5/15/2026–9/20/2026). Candidates should be reliable, punctual, and able to handle busy, high-traffic settings with a professional demeanor. Training provided; weekends and holidays may be required.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 15 years of age.
  • Customer service or hospitality experience preferred but not required.
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment in high-traffic areas.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.
  • Attend required trainings and meetings.
  • Reliable, punctual, and hardworking.
  • Assist pool members with small requests.
  • Support safety procedures and emergency response.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily operations and data collection as required.
  • Safeguard equipment and materials to ensure cost-effective operations.
  • Work with supervisors and cross-department teams to ensure timely tasks.
  • Follow all safety protocols and report concerns promptly.
  • Maintain pool area cleanliness including locker rooms, bathrooms, and gym.
  • Assist pool members with bags and other small requests.
  • Maintain storage areas and inventory of supplies.
  • Create a welcoming environment for pool guests.
  • Attend mandatory trainings and meetings.
  • Respond quickly to emergencies to ensure patron safety.
  • Present a professional appearance and high level of customer service.

About the Role

Commonpoint is hiring a Deck Assistant situated within the Pool Club. Across the agency, seasonal and part-time staff play a crucial role in supporting daily operations, program delivery, and organizational goals.

Role Responsibilities
  • Support agency initiatives by carrying out assigned duties accurately and efficiently, following established processes and contributing to data collection, reporting, or documentation as required.
  • Use agency resources responsibly by following established procedures, safeguarding equipment and materials, and supporting cost-effective operations.
  • Work effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and cross-department teams to ensure clear communication, timely task completion, and a positive, respectful work environment.
  • Follow all safety protocols, policies, and procedures to maintain a safe work environment for staff, partners, and the public, and promptly report concerns or incidents.
  • Maintain facility cleanliness, including locker rooms, bathrooms, and gym.
  • Assist pool members with bags and other small requests.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of storage spaces.
  • Maintain an inventory of supplies.
  • Help create a welcoming environment for all guests of the pool club.
  • Attend mandatory meetings and training sessions as scheduled.
  • Act immediately and appropriately to secure the safety of patrons in the event of an emergency.
  • Presents a professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service.
  • All other duties as assigned and appropriate.
Qualifications & Key Attributes

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 15 years of age
  • Prior experience in customer service, hospitality, or facility maintenance is preferred but not required
  • Ability to maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment in high-traffic areas
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to interact professionally with members, guests, and staff
  • Ability to follow instructions and work both independently and as part of a team
  • Basic awareness of safety procedures and emergency response protocols (training can be provided)
  • Must be able to maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude at all times
  • Willingness to attend all required trainings and meetings
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays during the pool season
  • Must demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic
